Research, Evaluation and Quality Improvement
The Rural Coordination Centre of BC (RCCbc) implements numerous complex programs to improve the health of rural people and communities. Research, Evaluation and Quality Improvement (REQI) builds evaluation into each RCCbc program, which allows for comparison amongst and between them. Not only does this work support a coordinated and transparent evaluation framework; it enables RCCbc to make efficient and effective operational decisions.

Looking ahead
In 2020–2021, REQI continued exploring and developing new tools and methods to evaluate RCCbc’s programs. In collaboration with an independent consultant, REQI built a robust evaluation template for implementation across a number of RCCbc’s programs and initiatives.
The evaluation template, which includes the unique opportunity for program team members to journal about their program’s successes, challenges, and potential solutions for improvement, began its pilot phase with the Rural Continuing Medical Education RCME Community Program. Program Liaisons will provide feedback on the template and their ability to share their ideas through it in the coming months. These insights will help shape the future direction of their Program and empower the team to become even more engaged in their roles.
Additional assessment of the evaluation template will continue in the upcoming year and, if proven to be effective, will be rolled out to other RCCbc programs. REQI will also investigate new ways to monitor the growing number of RCCbc programs.
